چکیده

We investigate the effects of inhomogeneous scalar field configurations on the electroweak phase transition. For this purpose we calculate the leading perturbative correction to the wave function correction term Z(φ, T ), i.e., the kinetic term in the effective action, for the electroweak Standard Model at finite temperature and the top quark self–mass. Our finding for the fermionic contribution to Z(φ, T ) is infra–red finite and disagrees with other recent results. In general, neither the order of the phase transition nor the temperature at which it occurs change, once Z(φ, T ) is included. But a non–vanishing, positive (negative) Z(φ, T ) enhances (decreases) the critical droplet surface tension and the strength of the phase transition. We find that in the range of parameter space, which allows for a first–order phase transition, the wave function correction term is negative — indicating a weaker phase transition — and especially for small field values so large that perturbation theory becomes unreliable. On the Nature of the Magnetic Fields Generated During the Electroweak Phase Transition

In this Letter we reanalyse the question of the origin of magnetic fields during the electroweak phase transition. We show that their formation is intimately connected to some semiclassical configurations of the gauge fields, such as electroweak Z-strings and W -condensates. We describe the formation of these semiclassical configurations during a first order phase transition and argue that they...

On the Electroweak Origin of Cosmological Magnetic Fields

Magnetic fields may have been generated in the electroweak phase transition through spontaneous symmetry breaking or through the subsequent dynamical evolution of semiclassical field configurations. Here I demonstrate explicitly how magnetic fields emerge spontaneously in the phase transition also when no gradients of the Higgs field are present. Using a simple model, I show that no magnetic fi...

Nucleosynthesis Constraints on Defect-mediated Electroweak Baryogenesis

In the defect-mediated electroweak baryogenesis scenario, baryons are produced in well separated regions of space. It is shown that between the electroweak phase transition at a temperature of T ∼ 100GeV and the end of nucleosynthesis at T ∼ 1KeV the baryon inhomogeneities dissipate, and that no constraints on defect-mediated electroweak baryogenesis can be derived from considerations of inhomo...

نقض CP و گذار فاز الکتروضعیف در مدل دو هیگزی

In this paper, an analytic treatment of electroweak phase transition is proposed within the two-Higgs doublet model. This phase transition occurs in one stage and is strongly first order. Therefore, it can be applied to the electroweak baryogenesis scenario, whereas the standard model cannot provide this condition considering the experimental data. Also, we study CP violation which is one of th...
